Gerald Genta

Not even a shadow of doubt, Gerald Genta is a man with exceptional skills especially in the craftsmanship of watches. He has left a lasting mark in the industry which can still be observed at this modern juncture. Even in his youth, this brilliant inventor already had strong artistic motivations where he initially found himself immersed in painting. When Genta reached the age of twenty- seven, he switched to designing timepieces. It was a profession for him that he immediately excelled. As a matter of fact, he was able work alongside the already acclaimed brands in the market.

Gerald Genta was able to produce admirable watches such as the Constellation by Omega, Ingenieur by International Watch Company, Nautilus by Patek Phillippe, Pasha by Cartier and Royal Oak by Audemars Piguet, among the others. He also created timepieces called the Bulgari- Bulgari for an anonymous Roman client. By the year 1969, this brilliant inventor established his own brand. One of the distinct creations was the Repetition Minutes that featured an automatic movement. It was placed in a case that was about three millimeters thick as compared to Grand Sonnerie. This model was launched in 1994 that costs a million dollar.

Upon the launch of Grand Sonnerie, it was believed to be the most intricate watch. Back in the factories of Gerald Genta located in Le Brassus and Geneva, there were more than one hundred laborers who worked each single day to achieve the finest timepieces. However, even with the manual force, he was still the sole force behind the accomplishments. In not less than two decades, this brilliant inventor was already able to produce approximately one hundred varied models which were entirely originals created with that imaginative spirit far cry from the sound reasoning of great numerals.

Watches from Gerald Genta veered away from the conventional methods that were employed in the industry for the longest period. His timepieces produced more than a tinge of newness in the market that consumers warmly welcomed. However, this brilliant felt as if he was not able to stay in proper pace with the rest of the brands. With that, he made a decision to sell his company to an Asiatic firm that not for long, was also acquired by a manufacturer in the fashion circle, Bulgari. Afterwhich, Genta returned to what he left unfinished in the corner, painting. Then again, his passion for the science of horology still remained.

By the year 2001, Gerald Genta came back to the watch industry and christened the brand to what is now Gerald Charles Designs. The first timepiece launched was called Renaissance where it revealed his impeccable taste. The personal preference of this brilliant inventor was overtly expressed in his products that were the very “demarcation line” with the rest of the companies in the market. In the previous collection of Genta identified as Maitre Horloger, it presented marvelous ideas that were a fetish among aficionados of haute creations. It was among the Gerald Genta watches that received respect of much esteem.

Aside from those aforementioned watches, there is also the Gerald Genta Arena Retro where some of its models have been combined with a minute repeater tourbillion. Such timepieces also feature a skeleton dial having a power reserve function. As for the Perpetual GMT, it has a calendar with a year, day and date where the point of the hands have circular pattern. Meanwhile, the Octo collection is the latest addition to the family of the brand. It is also considered as one of the intricate products. Such creation is big in size with a case measuring about forty- three millimeters.

With a watch from Gerald Genta, you have a classic accessory worn on your wrist.
