In the world of jewelry and watchmaking, there is one name that can speak of elegance, honor, time-tested value, and importance than anyone could ever do. That name needs no further introduction because it is the same name that has been adored my many as the ultimate timepiece obsession of all times. Omega. It might mean the last or the end of something but not for Omega watches, perhaps the introduction of this watch to the worldwide market prophetically means the end of other names in the industry of the science of time keeping. True enough Omega is still the world’s leading watchmaker while the others are still racing neck and neck to match the feat that Omega watches have achieved so far.
Looking back in times to the days when Omega first established before it became the icon that it is now, one can truly say that it was not at all a bed or roses. Omega started its first operation in La Chaux –de-Fonds, the place in Switzerland, and perhaps in the whole world where the finest watchmakers are found. It was in 1848 when Louis Brandt who was only 23 years old at that time first thought of making pocket watches that are key-wound precise. He used the parts that the local craftsmen used to peddle at that time. Armed with business acumen and the passion to make his watches reach to other places, Brandt decided to travel outside of his native country, hence he reached as far as Italy, England, and to some of the Scandinavian countries. Barely three decades after, the old Brandt died and failed to see the fruits of his labor.
The two sons of Brandt, Cesar and Louis-Paul continued what would have their father;s legacy in the chronography industry as the founder of the world’s highly respected name brand of timepieces. Not long after, the brothers also died sometime in 1903. It was Paul-Emile Brandt who has hailed as the mastermind in propelling the company to become what it is now. Despite the economic crisis that the world wars brought, Omega still managed to maintain its leadership in the market.
There is actually more to Omega than meets the eye. It was in 1969 that Omega became a worldwide sensation when it was chosen by the NASA officials to be its partner in their space exploration as far as time keeping is concerned. In fact the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong, was seen wearing the Omega Speedmaster. It was only Omega watches that passed the strict standards that the NASA had required at those times. Soon there after, Omega watches were used as the perfect time keeping gadget not only among American astronauts but Russian cosmonaut as well.
Omega watch line is also one of the prime commodities among famous celebrities both from the sporting world and silverscreen. One of the famous pop culture icons of the times is James Bond, the one that Pierce Brosnan and lately Daniel Craig portrayed are always seen donning an Omega watch particularly the Seamaster 300M Professional.
The peoples of the world can seemed to help it when they are attracted to any of the Omega watches. These watches are true products of time-tested Swiss’ watchmaking science and technology fueled by the age-old tradition and passion for artistic and skillful craftsmanship in assembling all the pieces that make up an Omega. Paradoxically, the success of Omega does not end when all are lagging behind. It has yet to unleash the many things hidden up its sleeves.
There is no denying the fat the Omega watches are truly high-end having been made from cutting-edge watchmaking technology and exceptional raw materials hence they are truly expensive. For those who can’t seem to afford the costly original have to make do with replica Omega watches.
Omega is truly a precious gem among timepieces. One thing that is relatively worth a fortune.
