Patek Philippe

If automobiles have Rolls Royce, watches have Patek Philippe. When you inquire aficionados about the various timepieces, they will never miss out the name because for many years, the company has been distinctly singled- out from the rest in the industry. The firm has been synonymous to exclusivity and perfection that has been credited to the exceptional craftsmanship revealed by the rich collection of Patek Philippe watches.

Patek Philippe has an interesting narrative. If you think that the name is a certain individual similar to the other companies in the industry that has been identified after its brainchild, this is not. The firm is composed of two individuals, Antione Norbert De Patek and Jean Adrien Philippe. Meaning to say, the watches from this manufacturer are fusion of brilliant minds. There is a joint force of different personalities that were able to introduce to the global market remarkable timepieces worth every penny even with the fact that a single Patek Philippe watch may ask more from your pockets.

The story of Patek Philippe started when a refugee and soldier from Poland, Antoine Norbert De Patek, transferred to Geneva in order to learn painting under the expertise of Calame who was an acknowledged landscape artist. They were able to acquaint with each other in the City of Lights, Paris. He was not able to pursue the career for a long period though because little did he know, it was not the profession he was truly destined for. Not for long, Philippe became fascinated with the assembly of top caliber movements to be placed inside elegant cases. Because of the growing passion, he crossed paths with watch smith, Francois Czapek.

Antione Norbert De Patek and Francois Czapek became good friends that eventually, they established Patek, Czapek & Co. on May 1, 1839. Its headquarters was located in Quai Des Bergues 29. The company showed potentials but only existed for quite a while. By 1844, Patek met another watch smith, Jean Adrien Philippe who transferred to France. He was already able to assemble a finely think pocket watch that had interesting features. Upon their encounter, Patek already ended his previous partnership so he offered Philippe a position as the firm’s technical director.

By 1845, a new company was instituted. It was then called Patek & Co. where Jean Adrien Philippe gave tremendous contributions. With his performance, the company was able to stay afloat in the industry. The firm was slowly finding its niche and not for long, Antoine Norbert De Patek recognized the efforts of his technical director. In the year 1851, another re- organization took place where finally, it was identified as Patek Philippe & Co. The two individuals were able to display an admirable collaboration that were not much in mere words but more so with the watches they have produced.

Patek Philippe & Co. is an amazing alliance that resulted to sophisticated watches. Antione Norbert De Patek was a talented sales agent who was fond of traveling. His trips though were also geared towards the betterment of the company because he promoted the timepieces with his associates. Even with the dangers of taking a journey, he was not threatened and even jotted down all his experiences. On the other hand, Jean Adrien Philippe was settled to stay in Geneva. He was the one responsible over the production process of the company. He greatly fared as an “overseer” in the absence of his business colleague.

Even if Patek Philippe & Co. was placed in any kind of event, it was able to stand out. As a matter of fact, Antoine Norbert De Patek was seconded as Count. The title was conferred to him by Pope Pius IX while Jean Adrien Philippe also lived out his job well. Patek and Philippe may have already passed away but the legacy they left the industry is still making a resounding noise up to this juncture.
